Galway City is the Capital City of the West of Ireland – a vibrant city full of culture and home of the Arts. The City is famed for its many festivals, the promenade and beach at Salthill, museums, galleries and of course that all important shopping. In the evenings the city comes alive with music and song and the buzz of Quay Street and the Spanish Arch are an attraction in itself. The city of Tribes is host to the annual Summer Galway Races, an event which is famous the world over for an atmosphere that will take your breath away. The Galway Arts Festival brings together music, literature, art and theatre and an incredible visual spectacle that thrills thousands year after year. The two Oyster Festivals are social events of the season, the Galway International Oyster Festival and the Clarenbridge Oyster Festival.

The Salthill Airshow attracts aviation enthusiasts from all over and features world famous aerobatic displays.

County Galway is full of scenic beauty that is unique to our region. Connemara is celebrated for it’s wild and rugged beauty and has plenty to entertain it’s visitors. Kylemore Abbey is home to an order of Benedictine nuns and the abbey is set by the shores of a lake where you can walk along the peaceful Victorian walled gardens before having lunch in the café.

By Air
There are two main airports that serve Galway City, Galway Airport and Ireland West Airport Knock

By Train
Iarnrod Eireann is the service provider for intercity trains between Galway and Dublin. Trains Depart Heuston Station in Dublin serving the midlands, Roscommon, Galway County and ending in Ceannt Station, Galway City.

By Bus
There are numerous service providers based in Galway City that travel to all major towns and cities in the country. Galway also has a city service. Bus Eireann is the main national service provider, and City link and Bus Nestor also have depots in Galway City.
